Maybe it’s just me, but I find it so hard to take flattering photos of homes at this time of year. Yesterday we were supposed to have “some sun” so I planned days in advance to save the day for taking new photos to replace the snow photos. Well, the day wasn’t full sun but was still overcast with the all-too-frequent gray skies.I’ve been trying different settings on my digital camera to try to bump-up the color as the AUTO setting just isn’t working. Unfortunately there’s no ADD SUN setting. I did find that the SUNRISE/SUNSET setting worked a little better. Apparently it allows for ‘low light’ which we have a lot of between November through March. One of the homes where I took new photos was my listing east of Hoover Reservoir. It’s on 3 wooded acres so I wore my duck boots since I knew the ground would be soaked after the 20″ snow melt the past few days.
As I walked around the large home my feet kept making a sucking sound as the water-logged soil tried to pull my boots off. The back of the home is three stories which means I have to get quite a distance away in order to get the whole house in the photo. I decided I could get the best shot through all the trees if I could only climb up the other side of the ravine and stand on one particular spot.
Well, getting to that spot was steeper than it looked, and the ground kept sliding out from under me. I ended up using my tripod as a walking stick for balance.
At one point, my feet slid and down I went. I tried to catch my fall with my hand, which promptly went into the mud. So now I have a mud-covered hand, muddy knees and a muddy coat.
But I GOT my photo! Now if I could just add a pretty robin’s egg blue sky
I’d REALLY like to look like the real estate agents we see on TV with the high heels, the well-coiffed hair and manicured nails, driving a sparkly clean Benz. Somehow I believe that I represent “reality TV”.
