It’s weekends like we’re having this weekend that I’m glad I have a home office and don’t have to make a trek out on the roads. My Cherokee (aka the WEENR-mobile) doesn’t have a problem in the 6″ of snow that Delaware County has received so far, but I’m not so confident with others on the road around me.
Staying home allows me the opportunity to see the “beauty” of the snow. I always find it amazing how the tiny flakes are able to stick together on the smallest twig to transform it into a piece of artwork.
The row of evergreens that provide my home with privacy, as well as shelter for birds and rabbits, don’t need tiny lights to turn them into Christmas trees.
Of course, The Murph, with his short legs, has a rougher time of it although he LOVES to run through the snow - leaping through it like a rabbit.
Someone sent me a very funny poem about a “Dachshund Tunneling Through Snow“. I would love to post it here but it’s not quite G-rated, so I’ll resist. It focuses on the “parts” that get really cold.
Today we’re supposed to get more snow with 45 mph winds, so stay inside and look for the beauty around YOUR yard.
Then go inside and get warm with a cup of hot cocoa.

Elaine - Wow - that is some snow - I think you’re you’re sending the cold weather our way cause we’ll be dropping from 80’s in the day to high 50’s! Murph looks so cold!!! Love the sweaters though! - Cyndee Haydon

The Murph HAS to have several sweaters because it takes a while for one to dry out before he needs to go out again.
That’s his Ohio State sweater which is heavier than a couple of the other ones. I do feel sorry for him … that’s why I sweep a path for him.

Greetings Elaine, from sunny Port Orange FL! Your snowy pictures gives us the holiday feeling in FLorida. As Cyndee mentioned we’re in store for a drop in temperature!

Janis, what part of Florida is Port Orange located?
Regarding temps, we’re having single digit wind chills today. Br-r-r
With the cold December we’re been having, I expect there to be more Buckeyes wanting to move to your fair state.

Elaine I love the snow! We have had only a dusting here in ABQ. We are chilly just no snow. I will just have to enjoy the snow virtually for now. - Ashley

It is beautiful… and is almost, almost enough to make me miss the frozen tundra of my former northern homes in New Jersey, or Maryland…then you mentioned the single degree part… I’ ll stay in Charlotte, lots of Ohio boomers and other northerners are making their way here. Terry McDonald

Ashley, don’t you sometimes get snow in your mountain area or aren’t they high enough for that?
elainereese // December 18, 2007 at 12:33 am
Terry, I know lots of Buckeyes like your city. It’s warmer than here but still has the seasons which some people prefer.

Hi Elaine, these photos almost make it look worthwhile lol. Many people will be pleased if the predictions hold true, snow for the Christmas holiday. And it looks like it takes The Murph a while to dry off!

Carole, the weathermen are saying we may not have a white Christmas … but it’s a week away so who knows.
The sweaters take the brunt of the snow … except for the feathers on his legs and backside. I often have a little space heater on, so he lays down in front of it to warm up. He has such a rough life you know.
